Evan Driscoll Joins Texas Farmers’ Market as New Executive Director

A message from Evan:

I’m completely thrilled to be joining the Texas Farmers’ Market team as Executive Director.

Farmers Markets are the backbone of a strong, thriving local food community and economy, and joining TFM’s professional staff of dedicated local food advocates, a community of vendors with top notch products, a cohort of farmers and ranchers with delicious, sustainable food – it is an absolute honor to serve as the new ED. I’m humbled by this opportunity.

A little about myself. I’ve been in food systems work for the past 10 years. Most recently, I served as Director of Operations with Foodshed Investors here in Austin, TX. I had the chance to support a variety of sustainable food businesses in finding and securing appropriate capital to grow their impact and bottom line. I worked in-depth with farmers, ranchers, consumer packaged goods (CPG), restaurants, and other sectors, to strengthen these sustainable food businesses by helping improve business processes and leverage the right capital for growth.

Prior to this work, I spent time in other parts of the food system, including my work with Sustainable Food Center’s Farmers’ Markets and serving for a number of years as Farm Manager with Green Gate Farms. Even further back, I owned and managed my own little farm operation, Sasquatch Acre, a diversified fruit and vegetable farm with some laying birds. I also serve on the Board of Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association as Treasurer, as well as on the Board of Common Market Texas (in Houston), and as a Co-Founder and Advisor of the Central Texas Young Farmer Coalition.

I understand, first hand, how vital it is for our local food community to have thriving Farmers’ Markets. I’m very excited to commence work as the new ED – learning from TFM’s vendors, staff, board, and the community at large, for how I can best support our mutual goals and aspirations. I want to extend a big thanks to TFM’s board and staff for this opportunity, and all the amazing work from TFM’s past Executive Director, Kate Payne. I’m fortunate to have a solid foundation to build from.

My official start date is August 19th. Looking forward to connecting with each and every one of y’all and getting to work!

Regards,

Evan Driscoll
