Earth Month Celebration: Zero Waste Chef Demo with Monique Santua

April 16, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join us at Texas Farmers’ Market as we celebrate Earth Month all April long! Our mission of growing a sustainable local food system in Central Texas is directly intertwined with the health of our planet. Shopping at the farmers’ markets is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint, because you are purchasing food that was grown within 150 miles of our market, as opposed to being shipped in from thousands of miles away. Join us every weekend in April for a series of fun events and programming to educate and inspire on the many ways we can all do our part to help protect our planet. Click here for more information.

Sunday, April 16th at Mueller, 11am-1pm: Zero Waste Chef Demo with Monique Santua

Monique Santua was born in the Philippines and raised in Houston, TX. She has spent several years deepening her knowledge and passion for the Austin food system with her work as Market Chef / Marketing & Events Coordinator at Texas Farmers Markets and founding Gastromonique, a personal chef and catering service focused on locally sourced, seasonal and sustainable experiences. Monique then moved to the restaurant world, working as the Sous Chef at Lenoir. Afterwards, she spent 4 months at Hiša Franko, a 2 Michelin Star farm to table restaurant in Slovenia and traveling all around Europe in search of inspiring new flavors. She is now back in Austin, dishing up meats and pastas at Birdie’s. Stop by the Sample the Market booth in front of the pavilion during the middle two hours of market for a taste of what she is cooking up!
