Join chef Taruna of Yellow As Turmeric at the market this weekend!
Yellow as Turmeric is a new venture of Taruna and Ash Ahuja, who have been involved in restaurant and catering businesses across the country over the last 25 years. In recent years, Taruna has planned events for an iconic, well known Austin restaurant. Ash got his training at the premier Taj Mahal Hotel chain in India and in the US had the opportunity to work at the renowned Bombay Club in Washington DC, a popular high-powered restaurant. Ash also has managed and owned many restaurants in Washington DC area and Hawaii, where his restaurants were applauded by food critics from major publications and voted as one of the top 40 in the Zagat Survey for Washington DC area.
While in Hawaii, we participated at the North Shore Farmer’s Market and the Hawaii Kai Market on the island of Oahu, Hawaii with great success. .
The idea behind Yellow as Turmeric is very simple. We believe that food is a vital life-force and cooked whole-heartedly, provides inner strength, immunity, a clear mind, and most importantly, a joyful experience. It starts with the way we shop and cook for our own family. We buy our produce from our local Farmers’ markets. Our family meals, prepared with love every single night from scratch, are high on authenticity of flavors but low on oil, sodium and artificial ingredients. Our catered/prepared meals strive for the same. We use healthy, nutritious, locally sourced produce, free range poultry and sustainable products. We adapt recipes to suit the dietary needs of our clients. Our recipes are derived not just from India where our roots are but from several other regions of the world.
