TFM at Mueller invites all members of our market community to celebrate this important month with a kids peanut butter birdseed activity highlighting agricultural scientist and environmentalist George Washington Carver.
Born into slavery, George Washington Carver was an American agricultural chemist, agronomist, and experimenter whose development of new products derived from peanuts (groundnuts), sweet potatoes, and soybeans helped revolutionize the agricultural economy of the South. For most of his career he taught and conducted research at the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute (now Tuskegee University) in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was the most prominent black scientist of the early 20th century.
