TFM at Lakeline invites all members of our market community to celebrate this important month with a number of different activities at the market on Saturday, February 22, 9a-1p.

Join us on the north side of the market for musical performances by Ange Kogutz, a poster project about the history of the African American struggle in the Christen’s Gourmet Pralines booth, little known facts about African American History in the Poochie Trends Pet Boutique and Bakery booth and a kids peanut butter birdseed activity celebrating agricultural scientist and environmentalist George Washington Carver.

Born into slavery, George Washington Carver was an American agricultural chemist, agronomist, and experimenter whose development of new products derived from peanuts (groundnuts), sweet potatoes, and soybeans helped revolutionize the agricultural economy of the South. For most of his career he taught and conducted research at the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute (now Tuskegee University) in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was the most prominent black scientist of the early 20th century.
