October is pecan harvest season! To mark the occasion we’re highlighting our two pecan farmers, Yegua Creek and Perennial Pecan! Read more about each of them below:
Yegua Creek Farms features their pecans every way they can, in everything they do! They purchased an abandoned orchard in 2006, and since then have put their nuts to good use. They use pecan nuts and oil in a variety of rotating products, often partnering with other Texas Farmers Market vendors! They harvest from some 5,000 pecan trees across their own orchard and a couple of neighboring orchards. Their orchards are chemical free and use natural farming techniques to promote plant and soil health. Find their pecans, breads, and more at both Lakeline & Mueller!
When Mark and Katie Oliver started managing a local Pecan farm nestled along the Colorado river in east Austin they knew there was more for the beloved pecan than cookies and pies. As a Registered Dietitian, Katie knew that making clean cold-pressed pecan products that were easy to integrate into everyday cooking was key to reintroducing the pecan to a new generation focused on health. Perennial Pecan believes a daily serving of pecans is essential to living well. Their cold-pressed products make it simple to incorporate the pecan into your nutritional lifestyle without sacrificing quality, convenience or taste. Find their pecan oil, butter, flour, and parm at the Mueller market on Sundays!
