Chef Demo with Harvey Lavell Merida of Lavell’s Catering

Join us at the main market tent as Chef Harvey Lavell Merida of Lavell’s Catering prepares a delicious and seasonal recipe for Rosemary Lemon Scented Pan Sheared Chicken Breast . Try a sample or two and then pick up the ingredients from our market vendors to make the dish at home! This chef demo is brought to you in partnership with the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce

About Chef Harvey Lavell Merida

Lavell’s Catering was founded in 1995, in Austin Texas by Harvey Lavell Merida. Mr. Merida is a native of Austin, Texas. He is also a 13-year veteran of the US Army. While serving in the Armed Forces as a Quartermaster (Food Service Sergeant), Harvey discovered his passion for cooking, and was asked to be a part of the Fort Sill Culinary Team.

As part of the team, they successfully competed in several competitions at Fort Lee in Petersburg, VA. After serving duty in Iraq (Operation Desert Shield) and Italy, Harvey decided to opt for an early retirement and move him and his family back to Austin. Once in Austin, Harvey cooked at various places, as well as volunteered at his local church.

After several requests, he decided to open Lavell’s Catering. Lavell’s Catering is truly a reflection of love and passion for what and who Harvey is. True to their slogan: ” Where we love to cook and cook with LOVE!”

About The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce (GABC) inspires, develops, and promotes Black economic success in the Greater Austin area. GABC exists to deliver the capital to their  members, the African-American and Greater Austin Business Community. The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce, then the Capital City African American Chamber of Commerce (CCAACC), was incorporate in 1982. Founded by eleven community, political and business leaders within Austin, the organization was established to bring awareness to the enormous amount of dollars generated from black consumers in the form of travel and tourism within the goal of providing economic prosperity for African-American businesses and the general Greater Austin region.
